Test Engineer

We have an immediate opening for a versatile QA Test Engineer who is eager to conduct testing in a regulated industry. This position will require the candidate to be open-minded and able to dive directly into an environment that is process driven. Because of this, a desire for achieving excellence in customer satisfaction, process and product quality, and reliability is a must!  

Responsibilities:
  • Provides feedback on software requirements to make sure that they are clear and testable
  • Create and review test cases that include automated, manual and exploratory testing
  • Effectively isolate and analyze defects providing detailed steps and conditions or defect reproduction
  • Uses innovative techniques to find defects and potential enhancements during development
  • Writes verification test procedures that trace to requirements
  • Works with software and hardware while in development to give quality feedback to other engineers
  • Works with other engineers to improve software and hardware testability and failure diagnosis
  • Participates in team retrospectives and other incremental software process improvement activities
Required Knowledge/Skills:
  • Create and execute test plans/protocols/procedures/cases for each release
  • Experience performing SQA for embedded systems and/or machine control software
  • A testing mindset that can break complex software in test cases
  • Actively work with team members to ensure the completion of the scheduled tasks
  • Ability to complete specific work as assigned with minimal assistance
Basic Qualifications:
  • At least 5 years of professional experience in software quality assurance
  • At least 3 years of experience writing test plans, test protocols with reports, and trace matrices
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or equivalent
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Professional experience with test automation or scripting languages such as Python, Lua, Perl, and/or BASH
  • Ability to work in Linux command line
  • Identify and log defects in the defect tracking tool
  • Experience with DOORS or other requirements management tools
  • Experience performing SQA for medical device software

This position is mostly remote, but will require some time within the lab each week.
