Electrical Engineer
We’re seeking an experienced Electrical Hardware Design Engineer to develop and test next-generation embedded hardware for connected devices in heavy-duty and industrial environments. You’ll design PCBs, integrate microcontrollers, and work with firmware and systems teams to bring innovative products from concept to production. This role offers the opportunity to work hands-on with cutting-edge technologies in embedded systems, CANBus, RTOS, and wireless communication.

Key Responsibilities
  • Research and develop device-level hardware solutions compatible with commercial and heavy-duty applications.
  • Collaborate with firmware, thermal, optical, and mechanical engineers to design and define new products.
  • Incorporate communication protocols, data and messaging considerations, and mechanical and thermal requirements into hardware designs.
  • Develop technology definitions and project proposals in coordination with project managers to ensure cost-effective, scalable solutions.
  • Create and present proof-of-concept designs with supporting DFMEA documentation.
  • Develop validation plans including alpha/beta testing and stress testing (DVP&R).
  • Design hardware for manufacturability and ensure system-level integration readiness.
  • Produce technical documentation and white papers to support internal knowledge sharing and training.
  • Maintain revision control and ensure accurate documentation across all development stages.
Technical Skills & Experience
  • 3+ years of experience in hardware and circuit design development.
  • Proficiency with CADD/Altium for circuit and schematic design.
  • Experience in embedded systems development with RTOS/Linux and familiarity with C, C++, or Python.
  • Strong understanding of CANBus and SAE J1939 protocols.
  • Experience with high-speed microprocessors (GHz-class) and Bluetooth or cellular communication systems.
  • Hands-on experience with lab equipment such as oscilloscopes and logic analyzers.
  • Knowledge of PCB manufacturing and design for production.
  • Understanding of embedded system architecture from device to cloud.
Education
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field required.
  • Advanced degree or graduate coursework in Electrical Engineering preferred.
This is an on-site role in the Pittsburgh PA area.
